This won’t mean much to most of you, but I was overjoyed to find the legendary Blue Hammer tape among my piles of ancient cassettes this week. This mid-80’s recording features young Troy England Evitt III (of Grampy’s Lump fame) improvising a commercial for a miracle cooking product, assisted by our pal, Bill Glave, on sound effects. For some reason, we all preferred this tape played at a slower speed, the way it’d presented here.
Blue Hammer is quoted quite often around my house, even though we rarely cook bacon. Glave’s mighty “KOONG!” (the one that never fails to send Evitt into hysterics) is a sound effect Melissa and I still employ whenever one is threatening to bludgeon the other.
